#3: Is This Cost Refundable?

Does this sound familiar? The minute you sign on that dotted line with someone else, you automatically become liable for what they are leasing or financing. Co-signing for a car, house, or second credit card puts your credit into someone else’s hands, and they can literally destroy it.
Ladies, beware! The most dangerous men are the conniving ones that go after your credit, not your money. The smooth talkers who say how money is not important, and question who needs it if you have someone who loves you … Well, here’s what I’ve learned. The men that say that are BROKE! You will never, ever hear financially stable individual say money isn’t important. That’s just dumb. Now again, I’m not saying it’s the ONLY thing that matters. But come on ladies, when’s the last time you went grocery shopping with your boyfriend and the cashier let you go without paying your bill because she was so happy for you that you had someone who loves you standing next to you?
#14: Anything & Everything
Expect that ANYTHING and EVERYTHING will happen. Your financial security and the legal system are not guaranteed. If you should be touched by a situation such as a death or divorce, you need to realize where you stand. Whether you are an heir of an estate or dealing with your own estate, you need to know what you can or cannot salvage, estate taxes that can apply, and the financial cost of ‘death tax,’ which you pay when you die.
Each state and province differs. Therefore, never assume that what was okay for your friend in one state or province will apply to you. There have been countless times that I have heard, “Oh, but my friend got this great deal.” I always ask, “Oh really, from whom?” … 95% of the time, the friend lives in another city, state, or province and therefore it’s not applicable to where they live. Be informed. Not only to protect yourself, but for your friends and family too.
