This book came about as a result of our extensive clinical work treating women with sexual health problems and is written in plain language for the everyday reader regardless of her age and family status.
As clinicians, time and again we encounter questions about the fragility of the vagina, vaginal orgasm, pain with intercourse, genital hygiene, clitoris and lubrication, vaginismus (inability to have penetration), lubricant use, thrusting during intercourse, etc, etc. With the vagina being internal and non-visible, it is easy for women to question its looks, function, and management. Thus we realized that women can use a handy book like this for finding everyday answers to their questions.
Another reason for this book is that female sexuality is still being viewed through the male model, leaving women frustrated, pressured to perform, and eager for information. Furthermore, the media's push to fit the 'great sex model' often leads to medicalizing female sexuality by diagnosing her with 'female sexual dysfunction' instead of respecting her sexuality and sexual choices.
Ladies, take charge of your sexual health, and inspire others (family, friends, brides-to-be, etc.) by giving them their own copy - although they may blush at first, they will thank you for enlightening them about this very personal topic.
