The overwhelming desire to use her management skills, together with her knowledge and ability to repair automobiles, led to the origin of C.A.R., Inc in 2000.

99 Things Fathers Wish They Knew Before They Burnt Down the Kitchen
Betty Lynch

Betty Lynch lives in East Texas with her best friend and husband Doyle. Betty learned the art of cooking at a very early age by her mother's side in the kitchen. She is an avid recipe collector and has many in her collection that date back to the 1900's. She loves to have family and friends around her table for a home-cooked meal. Her motto is that no one leaves her table hungry.

Betty and her husband Doyle love to cook together in the kitchen and at the grill. As Doyle grills, Betty prepares the veggies, salads and side dishes. This time spent together has brought much joy to their lives and drawn them closer together.
Betty's first cookbook is Back to the Table with My Country Kitchen and is a treasure for all who have purchased this cookbook. She currently has teamed up with the 99-Series to write a cookbook for fathers who love their children more than life itself, want to spend valuable time with their kids, but don't know that much about cooking.

These recipes are easy and fun for fathers and kids to get into the kitchen and cook together while sharing about their day. "Don't worry about the mess, Dads just enjoy the time you spend with your kids in the kitchen. Preparing food together creates a special bond that will last a lifetime for you and your kids." Betty's mission is to bring the family back together and share a meal. What better way to do this is to have Dad and the kids in the kitchen cooking together.

99 Things WE Wish YOU Knew Before YOU Dismissed the Disabled as Unabled
Michael Lifshitz

Born with a condition called Multiple Congenital Musculoskeletal Abnormalities, Michael has had his share of people doubting what he could do.  An undying determination to prove all the nay Sayers wrong drove Michael to succeed, resulting in him obtaining his chartered accountancy designation and his MBA.

In 2005, a need to educate people as to what people with disabilities could accomplish led Michael to create the website www.sureican.info, and in 2006, Sure I Can became a regular column in a quarterly Canadian magazine called Exceptional Family, Canada’s resource magazine for parents of exceptional children.  Also in 2006, a lost bet over a souvlaki dinner led Michael to embark on a comedy career in which he uses humor to mock everything from the attitudes of people towards people with disabilities to frustration over the bureaucracy involved in accessing government programs.

Today, Michael lives on his own in Montreal and, aside from his comedy and writing, works as an advisor for a financial planning firm.

Cristina Urioste
Co-Author Author
Cristina Urioste

Cristina Urioste, Organic Chef

Cristina’s appreciation for organic, seasonal, and locally grown food began while living on a beautiful farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where she learned organic gardening techniques and grew her own fruits and vegetables from 1997-2000. Participating so fully with the cycles of nature served as a profound epiphany in her understanding of the human relationship with food.

It was also during that time that she began studying Ayurveda, an ancient holistic lifeway from India (often considered yoga’s ‘sister science’), at The Wise Earth School of Ayurveda. There, Sri Swamini Mayatitananda carefully taught her about grace, wholeness, and sadhana in the kitchen, and reminded her that food is medicine. Ultimately, in 1999 she became Chef of the Wise Earth School, preparing food for Swamini Mayatitananda Herself, as well as doctors, health practitioners, healers, yoga teachers, and spiritual seekers. Since then, Cristina has been cooking and teaching others how to prepare wholesome delicious meals at wellness retreat centers, yoga centers, summer camps, private homes, fundraising events, movie sets, and more. Her most exciting commitment was as full time private chef to a leading actor in one of 2007’s blockbuster film productions.

Cristina currently lives in Venice, California, where she continues to garden and prepare organic delights with constant joy. You can typically find her at one or more of the outstanding farmer’s markets on the Westside with a canvas bag full of organic goodies for that week’s menu. She caters events and prepares food in private homes. She also teaches Ayurvedic Nutrition in The Wise Earth Tradition both privately and in small groups.
